About the Group
The Congrave Group at the University of Oxford develops organic functional materials for photophysics, electronics and energy-related applications. Our research combines molecular design, synthesis and optical characterisation to understand and control how new materials interact with light.

If you are interested in DPhil (PhD) or PDRA opportunities in the Congrave Group, please contact Dan by email to discuss current and upcoming openings.
Funding from the European Research Council is available for a DPhil (PhD) student to join the group in October 2027 for 4 years (DPhil Studentship in Organic Luminescent Materials at University of Oxford)
DPhil candidates can also apply to join the group in October 2027 funded through the EPSRC IMAT CDT on these projects:
P4) Luminescent molecular materials: Beating the energy gap law through vibrational design (w/ Prof. Ji-Seon Kim and Prof. James Durrant)
P27) Development of hybrid 2D-molecular platforms for quantum sensing (w/ Prof. Hannah Stern)
